When I hear horses, horses, horses, my mind initially goes to Meg Ryan in Sleepless in Seattle… singing on the way to the new in-laws house! However, I’m talking about a different horses. The Kentucky Derby is coming up, and we have been meeting with a certain bride who loves her horses!
Danielle is a bride we are working with late this summer, she is an absolute animal lover and a country girl through and through. We have been brainstorming for some cool way to incorporate her loves into her big day without being cheesy or over the top. Finally we decided a route to take… horses!
I’m sure everyone has seen the plastic animals painted gold or white for showers and other events, we wanted to play off of that look but leave it a little more rustic and kept true.
Mixing elements is one of our favorite things to do here at the shop, so we chose old trophies, show ribbons, and play horses to create a fun theme that is reminiscent of childhood. You could even add some glam to this look to create a Kentucky Derby-esque look! Have your guests wear big crazy hats and wah-lah… insta-fun!!
Anyway, we dressed up a rustic chicken coupe to look like a bookshelf and started playing with some other do-dads to create a style we feel will make your guests smile. So pull up a chair, grab an Arnold Palmer, bust out the stripy straws and stay a while!
